I try to get technical info on servicing a non-functioning DEF system on my 2013 Sprinter 3500 with 130K miles.
In 2016 I refilled the DEF tank with 2.5 Gal. DEF fluid as the warning light came on. I was looking next day to take an urgent family trip to Kansas City, KS, at approx. 535 miles. After I filled the DEF Tank, the warning light stayed on for 470 miles when finally went off., to our delight.
We did not have any problem since until a few days ago. On April 26, 2021 the DEF warning light came on again. I run to Walmart and bought a 2.5 gallons of DEF liquid, I poured it in the thank. The system started counting down my starts from 15. The light was still on at the last start count down. Now my vehicle is parked in front of my building incapable to be driven! It is very frustrating, needles to say, because now I will need to tow the vehicle to a shop, and pay for parts and repair which I understand it is very costly. I am 75 and on $900/mo Social Security and on top of that I suffer of Type II diabetes and prostrate cancer. As such, my meds cost me over $330.00/mo.
It is obvious I cant afford this high expense!
I used to be a mechanic in the 1960s in Europe. i can fix this thing if I have the right technical info.
I would appreciate any helpful info and technical assistance !

Did you get it sorted. A mobile mechanic needs to run an ecu Diagnostic computer to clear old codes and reset the def for you…
There is a factory recall and a class action suit on the DEF system. I believe your year is included. It should be done for free at your Mercedes Dealer.
